She’s currently working towards the passage of the IDs for an Inclusive Democracy Act. This would establish free IDs for every American, allowing the over 21 million American adults without ID to access the means to attain jobs, housing, medical care, and more. It represents a fundamental shift in access and opportunity for the most vulnerable Americans.

She’s also the author of American Identity in Crisis, a book that defends human dignity and everyone’s right to have access to the pursuit of happiness. I highly recommend it! It changed the way I think about voting and ID-related issues.

Jess never set out to be a politician. She was a high school English teacher in rural Missouri. But then Trump won in 2016, sparking a political awakening that changed everything. That’s when Jess decided to run for office in a deeply red district. Even though she didn’t win, she is still doing the work by leading Blue Missouri, an organization dedicated to supporting down-ballot Democratic candidates in rural communities. Her mission is clear and compelling: every voter is worth it.

This is a good reminder to all of us that winning starts with being on the ballot and that every down-ballot Democrat across the country needs our support.
