For years, Donald Trump’s clearly declining mental state was only something that the most Anti-Trump Democrats on Twitter would be willing to talk about. But it’s not a fringe question anymore. So far, more than 85 Congressional Democrats have called for Trump’s impeachment or for the 25th Amendment to be invoked, triggered specifically by Trump’s unhinged threat on Iran that “a whole civilization will die tonight,” his equally unhinged Easter messages, and blasphemous Jesus photo (which Trump actually deleted).
Trump’s mental state has grown so concerning, that Congressman Jamie Raskin, alongside 65 House Democratic co-sponsors, introduced legislation to finally establish the independent Commission on Presidential Capacity called for in Section 4 of the 25th Amendment. As Raskin said, “Section 4 of the 25th Amendment empowers Congress to establish a permanent ‘body’ that, with the concurrence of the Vice President, can declare that the President is “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.”
But Congress never created this body in the more than 50 years since the amendment was ratified. Republicans spent four years obsessing over Joe Biden’s mental acuity. The question is whether they’ll show the same urgency for a president who is actively threatening genocide on a holiday morning and posting pictures of himself as Jesus Christ healing people with his glowing hands.
On this episode of The Siren Podcast, Jo sat down with Andy Ostroy to discuss Trump’s escalating erratic behavior, the MAGA mutiny that’s underway, Eric Swalwell’s resignation from Congress, Trump’s Epstein coverup, and what is shaping up to be a historic blue wave in the 2026 midterms.
