As we all have been watching the ICE invasion of Minneapolis, we have to ask the question: Where is Congress? Why have they relegated themselves to a powerless body over the Trump White House and thrown away their constitutionally given checks over the executive branch?
We hear article after news story of Republican members of Congress privately voicing frustration over the rogue nature of the Trump White House, with their “ability” to conduct military operations without the consent or notification of Congress a top reason for the frustration.
But it’s never enough. Republicans in Congress can never seem to develop a strong enough backbone to actually stand up to Trump.
Sure, we may see the occasional Republican break ranks and vote with the Democrats, but they know the rest of their colleagues will come through for the felon-in-chief. In other words, they’re the enablers.
If Congressional Republicans have had enough of this lawless, authoritarian regime deploying masked, armed thugs to round up, interrogate, and assault Americans, they actually have the power to do something about it.
