Inside the Trump Surveillance State Tracking Women's Periods & Selling Your Private Data

Congresswoman Sara Jacobs joins Pretty Furious to discuss how corporations are buying and selling your private health data to the government.

This week, Maggie Gehlsen-Burnett & Mallory Hagan sit down with Representative Sara Jacobs of California (CA-51) to discuss data privacy and its impact on women’s healthcare, America as a surveillance state, IVF, and the rights of the trans community.

Rep. Jacobs also discusses the heartbreaking state of ICE detention centers, and how massive corporations are using your private health data, like period tracker apps, to sell your data to law enforcement and DHS, turning America into a surveillance state.

We’ve seen this data already be used against Americans to criminalize abortion. In Nebraska, the private Facebook messages between a mother and her daughter were used to prosecute them for an illegal abortion under state law. Currently, as Rep. Jacobs tells us during this episode, there is nothing stopping companies from buying, selling, or sharing your private data, without any protections for Americans.
