Winning Starts with Being on the Ballot

A conversation with Jess Piper

I think I said this at least twice during our conversation but I’m going to say it one more time for good measure — Jess Piper is incredible.

Jess never set out to be a politician. She was a high school English teacher in rural Missouri. But then Trump won in 2016, sparking a political awakening that changed everything. That’s when Jess decided to run for office in a deeply red district. Even though she didn’t win, she is still doing the work by leading Blue Missouri, an organization dedicated to supporting down-ballot Democratic candidates in rural communities. Her mission is clear and compelling: every voter is worth it.

This is a good reminder to all of us that winning starts with being on the ballot and that every down-ballot Democrat across the country needs our support.
