As the Trump-aligned Ellison family attempts to create a patently illegal right-wing media monopoly, Democrats across the nation are forming plans to stop the merger. The Ellisons have proved they are willing to placate and bend the knee to Trump in order to grow their bank accounts, as we have seen with Bari Weiss’ appointment as CBS Chief, the disruption of 60 Minutes, the interference and cancellation of Stephen Colbert’s show, and Ellison’s assistance in the U.S. TikTok deal.
If this deal goes through, Trump will have proxy-control over CNN, CBS, HBO, and hundreds more of the most iconic and influential brands and media organizations in America. This is nothing except authoritarian and inherently un-democratic. The deal must be stopped.
