"I Would Vote To Shutdown DHS": Senator Blumenthal Reacts to ICE Brutality

Senator Blumenthal joins us on this episode of The Siren Podcast

On this episode of The Siren Podcast, Senator Richard Blumenthal walks us through the reforms to ICE and DHS that Democrats are seeking inside the latest funding bill.

As Senator Blumenthal told us, these reforms include “The same kinds of standards and practices that apply to local and state police forces. Masks off, body cameras on, respect for the Constitution, like the Fourth Amendment, which requires a judicial warrant if you’re going to arrest someone in their home or break down their door, and an end to the sweeps that we’re seeing.”

But the reality is, ICE, DHS, and the Trump regime do not seem very interested in complying with these demands. So as Jo asks Sen. Blumenthal, what happens in two weeks if these things don’t happen? What happens if it’s just business as usual?

Senator Blumenthal’s response: “What happens if they don’t agree to our demands? Well, I will vote to deny any more funding, which means a shutdown of that agency.”

Jo also asks what the pathway to Kristi Noem’s removal is, and discusses the chilling arrest of Don Lemon. All this and more, right here on The Siren Network.
