In 2025, seeing a Republican stand up to Donald Trump is political rarity, especially in Congress. However, Thomas Massie, a Republican Congressman from Kentucky, has made it a normal occurrence.
Massie has defied Trump on a number of priority legislation, and is starkly opposed to Trump’s willingness to raise the national debt (the U.S. just crossed $38 trillion in debt). But apart from being a thorn in Trump’s side on fiscal responsibility, Massie has recently become an outspoken critic on the Epstein files.
You know, those files that Trump promised to release during the campaign but then acted like they didn’t exist and were a hoax after he was elected?
To be clear, we don’t agree with practically anything that Thomas Massie has to say. But a Republican standing up to Trump, especially on something as important as releasing the Epstein files, deserves credit where credit is due. We need it more than ever during this moment.
