Trump just directly defied a court order and is now refusing to fund SNAP benefits for 42 million Americans. This comes after a judge ruled that Trump must use emergency funds to feed Americans during the shutdown.
As is normally the case for the regime, when Trump posts on Truth Social, MAGA has to scramble to pick up the pieces, explain what Trump really meant, and why you were wrong for thinking it in the first place.
Trump’s latest unhinged tweet was about SNAP benefits, where he said the benefits “will be given only when the Radical Left Democrats open up government, which they can easily do, and not before!”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt then contradicted Trump by saying “the administration was “fully complying” with the court order and was working to get partial SNAP payments “out the door as much as we can and as quickly as we can.”
However, this doesn’t make a ton of sense, because Democrats recently introduced legislation to keep food aid flowing during the shutdown. But Mike Johnson said this Democratic bill to keep SNAP funding alive was a “waste of time”. Johnson has kept the House out of session for 5 weeks, blocking any potential deal or negotiations that could possibly be made here.
Of course, this entire problem could be avoided if Mike Johnson just opened the House of Representatives back up, which he has shut down for 47 days now, giving Republicans a long paid vacation while their constituents suffer.
