This morning, Joe Kent, Director of the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center, resigned over Trump’s decision to start a war with Iran. In a Twitter statement, Kent said: “I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel.”
Kent, who was a hardline Trump loyalist, had antisemitic ties and defended the Jan. 6 riots. Certainly, Kent is no hero. But his resignation speaks to the growing chasm within MAGA and Trumpworld on the topic of Iran. More MAGA figures are speaking out and criticizing the war with every passing day, with former Trump loyalists Marjorie Taylor Greene and Tucker Carlson leading the charge.

He’s now running for the U.S. Senate in Florida as a Democrat.
