The 2024 election was pretty tough (call that the understatement of the year). In addition to Trump’s victory, the national electorate shifted starkly to the right, resulting in a slew of highly qualified and effective Democrats losing their seats in Congress, being replaced by MAGA soldiers not beholden to their constituents, but to Donald Trump himself.
Cut to today, and Democrats all across the nation are consistently trouncing their MAGA opponents in massive over-performances, including this past Tuesday’s 42 point swing to the left from 2024 in ruby red Kentucky for a State Senate seat. Yes, you read that number correctly. If that shift to the left were applied nationally, Democrats would easily have a supermajority in Congress.
This means two main things: The Democrats’ message is working, and people really, really don’t like Donald Trump. With just under a year left until the 2026 midterm elections, we’ll finally get the chance to correct our mistakes and make amends for the disaster that was 2024. And so far, it’s looking like we’re going to do just that.
