The past week has demonstrated for the entire world Donald Trump’s rapidly decaying mental state. Between Trump’s swear word-filled Easter Sunday message, where he praised Allah, and today’s Truth Social post, where he promised to commit a genocide on a country he’s trying to “free,” it is abundantly clear that the president is very unwell.
As of 6:22pm today, 70 Congressional Democrats have called for the 25th Amendment to be invoked, or for Trump’s impeachment. That number is growing by the hour. Democratic Representative John Larson has officially introduced articles of impeachment against Donald Trump, and Rep. Jasmine Crockett, along with other Democratic lawmakers, have written letters to Trump’s Cabinet urging them to invoke the 25th Amendment on the unstable Mad King president.
There may not be words to describe how dangerous this moment is. Republicans, who are currently on yet another Congressional vacation, spent the day downplaying Trump’s call to “end civilization,” saying that he was only joking and would just target Iran’s energy infrastructure.
Except, that’s not what Trump said. As all of us sane, rational people continue to point out the obvious, (while everything we said would happen during the election unfolds in real-time), Trump’s enabling goons in Congress and on Fox News continue to placate his every unhinged whim.
It’s crystal clear today, as it has been for a while, that there is absolutely nothing that Trump could do or say that would cause Republicans to abandon him, or even to say they merely disagree. As the midterms are fast approaching, and more and more deep-red Republican strongholds continue to flip blue, the abhorrent behavior of Donald Trump’s handlers in DC will catch up to them eventually.
